Der CEO von Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons hat bei seinem The Greenings Aufruf angekündigt, dass in diesem Jahr 2021 die Greenings ein Zeichen der Hoffnung geben sollen, und dafür die Farbe “grün” natürlich geradezu prädestiniert ist.
„Auch der Tourismus in Irland ist stark von der Pandemie und dem Lockdown betroffen, sodass die Situation in Irland sehr angespannt ist. Seit kurz vor dem letztjährigen St. Patrick´s Day im vergangenen Jahr sind so gut wie keine Touristen mehr auf unserer grünen Insel gewesen. Nun steht bereits der nächste St. Patrick´s Day vor der Tür und wir befinden uns noch immer mitten im Kampf gegen das Virus. Daher wäre es super, wenn wir gemeinsam ein „grünes Zeichen“ der Hoffnung setzen! Ich danke für Ihre Rückmeldung und freue mich auf Ihre Teilnahme!“
Frau Wörmann, unserer Kontaktperson bei Tourism Ireland, haben wir bereits zugesagt, dass wir für den 17. März 2021 „grünes Licht“ bei ‚Fridolin‘ im Höchstadter Karpfenkreisel haben werden.
Text der St. Patrick’s Day Videobotschaft von Bürgermeister Gerald Brehm und Dagmar Wennmacher vom Freundeskreis Höchstadt-Castlebar an die Höchstadter Freunde in Castlebar:
My dear friends in Castlebar,
I am so very sorry that we can’t meet in person, but I wish to send you our best regards from Höchstadt.
On the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day I want to extend my gratitude to all those in Castlebar who had this lovely idea of celebrating the 20th anniversary of our twinning last September. Thanks so very much to everybody who was involved in the tree planting we did together on 16th September.
On behalf of the town of Höchstadt I also wish to thank the German ambassador to Ireland, Mrs Potzel, for her great interest in our twinning. We appreciate that very much! And it was most wonderful that Mr Bellew and Mr Mna from the Irish embassy in Berlin made the long trip to Franconia to join us and to plant an oak tree. We here in Höchstadt are very honoured and feel blessed to have such fantastic partners in this event in Ireland and here in Germany.
I do hope that we will see each other again in 2021! Several trips were planned for last year. Johanna and Bernhard Blum wanted to visit Castlebar and Ireland with a travel group, there were exchanges planned by the fire brigades on both sides and I myself had wanted to visit my friends in Castlebar too.
But we here in Höchstadt feel proud of taking part in the Global Greening event on the occasion of the Irish national holiday on March 17. Thanks to the twinning club the carp statue will be illuminated in green. So we are joining this Irish celebration and are sending a sign of hope out into this Corona-stricken world.
As this year marks the 25th anniversary of contacting Castlebar for the first time – Theresa Walsh-Zaby sent a fax to John Condon in late October 1996 – we very much look forward to meeting our Castlebar friends again, either here in Höchstadt or in Castlebar on this occasion! Let’s keep fingers crossed that we can make this happen!
